Description: This beginner-friendly class guides you through the essentials of setting up woodworking hand tools, including chisels, planes, saws, and gouges. Students will bring their own tools, and learn how to sharpen, adjust, fine-tune, and (most importantly) use your tools for optimal performance safely, ensuring precision and ease in future woodworking projects.


Students are expected to bring their own hand tools for use of sharpening in class, including but not limited to:


- Chisels

- Saws

- Hatchets

- Gouges

- Hand Planes

- Marking Knives

- Carving Knives


Note:

-Students will need a sharpening stone for this class. One will be available for purchase during the first class session for $90.


About the instructor: Luke Lyu grew up in China and is a student of Master Lu Ban. Taking a great interest in traditional woodworking, he graduated the Mortise and Tenon Apprenticeship (of Sedgwick, ME) with Journeyman's Award. Living in Lexington with his wife and family, he now produces fine woodworking hand tools through his company Zen-Wu Toolworks.
