State of Clay 2025

State of Clay is a juried show open to original, innovative ceramic work by current and former residents of Massachusetts or those with close ties to Massachusetts. The aim of the show is to broaden public awareness of contemporary ceramic art and to provide a venue for Massachusetts’ clay artists. Juror Martha Grover will speak at the Artist Reception (TBA) and make prize awards, including $500 for Best of Show. Visitors will be encouraged to vote for the People’s Choice Award which will be awarded at the end of the show in June.

Submission Deadline is January 15, 2025 by 5:00 pm (Accepting  submission regristration will end at 4:30 pm, the application form will close at 5:00 pm)

Late deadline January 18 at 5:00 pm EST with extra fee.

Submission Limit. 3 entries max. by digital submission, with 2 detail shots permitted per entry. A set is considered one entry.

Size Limits, Display

●There is a six-foot limit on the horizontal dimension of wall piece. Work exceeding 35 lbs. must be installed by the artist or by special arrangements with the gallery.

●All 2D work must be securely wired and properly ready to hang.

Eligibility

● The State of Clay is open to artists over age 18 who have current or former ties with Massachusetts.

● Work must not have been previously displayed in a State of Clay exhibit nor in a previous LexArt exhibit.

● Ceramic must be the dominant material, though not the exclusive material.

● Work must have been completed in the last three years, 2022-2025.

Entry fee: LexArt Members: $17.50 per submission 

                      Non-Members: $35 per submission (Join LexArt and receive a discount click here)

Paying the Submission Fee will grant you access to the submission form for the State of Clay  exhibit. You must pay before receiving a confirmation with a link to the submission form.

After you have registered you will receive an email with a link to the artwork submission application.  The State of Clay Submission Guidelines contains detailed information about completing the application.  Best practice is use a Laptop or Computer for submitting your application.

Accepted Artwork: Artists will be notified of accepted works on or about Feburary 1, 2025
