We're raising $135,000 to match a grant we're seeking from the Mass Cultural Council to install new, power-assisted doors, energy efficient windows, and a security system that will make our building safe and accessible to all.

Make LexArt safe, accessible and energy efficient for Wilda and everyone else!
Wilda Ward continues to come to LexArt regularly, as she has for over forty years, to paint beautiful designs on boxes, bottles and other everyday objects while sharing stories and laughs with her fellow artisans in the decorative arts studio group. Due to a recent injury, Wilda now uses a walker and struggles to get in and out of the building while carrying her supplies.
She's not the only one--other visitors using wheelchairs and even able-bodied artists and students laden with their artwork and materials struggle to enter and exit the building that lacks any power-assisted doors.

We've applied to the Mass Cultural Council for a matching grant to replace the aging doors and windows, installed between 1965 and 1973, with 99 new, energy-efficient windows and 13 doors, including 4 automatic door openers and a new security system to make LexArt safe and accessible for all.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to my gift if the Mass Cultural Council grant is not obtained?
This project was identified as high-priority in the 2022 LexArt Systems Replacement Plan, which was funded in part by the MCC, so we are optimistic about the prospects for grant approval. If the grant is not received, we will proceed with the accessible doors and as many of the window replacements as campaign funds allow.
